What happens to what you write?

When you chat with Claude on claude.ai, your conversations are stored on Anthropic servers. Anthropic uses these conversations to improve the model — unless you have a paid plan where you have turned off data collection, or use the API directly.

💡 How to turn off data collection:
Claude.ai → Settings → Privacy → Turn off "Improve products for all users"

What you should never share with Claude

⚠️ Avoid pasting:
— Passwords or API keys
— Social security numbers or dates of birth
— Credit card numbers or banking details
— Sensitive health information about others
— Confidential business secrets
— Private information about third parties without consent

What you can safely share

✅ Safe to use:
— General work tasks and texts
— Code without production keys
— Anonymized data and examples
— Your own thoughts, ideas and plans
— Publicly available information

Incognito mode

Claude.ai has a temporary chat feature. Conversations in temporary mode are not saved and not used for training. Use this when working with sensitive information.
